Core i5-10210U vs Xeon E3-1220 v5 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Xeon E3-1220 v5 beats the Core i5-10210U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-10210U in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i5-10210U has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E3-1220 v5 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-10210U. Despite this, the Core i5-10210U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-10210U CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E3-1220 v5 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Xeon E3-1220 v5 also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-10210U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
