Core i5-10210U vs Core i7-4790 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-4790 is faster than the Core i5-10210U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-10210U in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-4790 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-10210U. Despite this, the Core i5-10210U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-10210U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-4790 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Core i7-4790 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i5-10210U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
