Core i3-9300 vs Core i5-6500 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-6500 beats the Core i3-9300 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i3-9300 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i3-9300 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-6500. Also, the Core i3-9300 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i3-9300 CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-6500 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Core i3-9300 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i3-9300 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
