Core i3-9100T vs Athlon Gold 7220U benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Athlon Gold 7220U performs better than the Core i3-9100T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-9100T in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i3-9100T has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Athlon Gold 7220U has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-9100T has a slightly higher clock speed than the Athlon Gold 7220U. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. The Athlon Gold 7220U outputs less heat than Core i3-9100T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i3-9100T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
