Core i3-9100 vs Xeon E5-2666 v3 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 beats the Core i3-9100 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-9100 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i3-9100 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-9100. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-9100 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2666 v3. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i3-9100. The Xeon E5-2666 v3 also has significantly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i3-9100 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
