Core i3-9100 vs Xeon E5-2650 v4 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2650 v4 beats the Core i3-9100 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i3-9100 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-2650 v4 has significantly more cores than the Core i3-9100. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2650 v4 has 12 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i3-9100. It also has more threads than the Core i3-9100. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i3-9100 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2650 v4. Also, the Core i3-9100 has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i3-9100 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2650 v4 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i3-9100 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
