Core i3-9100 vs Xeon E5-2640 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i3-9100 beats the Xeon E5-2640 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2640 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-2640 has significantly more cores than the Core i3-9100. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2640 has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i3-9100. It also has more threads than the Core i3-9100. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-9100 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2640. Also, the Core i3-9100 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i3-9100 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2640 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
