Core i3-9100 vs Core i7-4770K comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-4770K beats the Core i3-9100 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i3-9100 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Core i7-4770K has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i3-9100 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-4770K. Also, the Core i3-9100 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i3-9100 CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-4770K CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Core i7-4770K also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i3-9100 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
