Core i3-8350K vs Core i7 X 980 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7 X 980 performs better than the Core i3-8350K. Despite this, the Core i3-8350K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i7 X 980 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i3-8350K has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-8350K. Our comparison shows that the Core i3-8350K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7 X 980. In terms of cache, the Core i7 X 980 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i3-8350K

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i3-8350K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
