Core i3-8300 vs Core i7-8705G specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i3-8300 beats the Core i7-8705G in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-8705G in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-8705G has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i3-8300 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-8705G. A Core i3-8300 CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-8705G CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache and L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i3-8300 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
