Core i3-8130U vs Celeron G3930 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i3-8130U is faster than the Celeron G3930. Despite this, the Celeron G3930 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i3-8130U has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Celeron G3930 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i3-8130U. A Core i3-8130U CPU outputs less heat than a Celeron G3930 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Core i3-8130U also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i3-8130U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
