Core i3-8100T vs Core i7-4900MQ comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i3-8100T performs better than the Core i7-4900MQ. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-4900MQ in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i7-4900MQ has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-8100T has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-4900MQ. A Core i3-8100T CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-4900MQ CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Core i7-4900MQ also has slightly more L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i3-8100T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
