Core i3-8100T vs Core i5-8500T specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-8500T is faster than the Core i3-8100T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-8100T in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-8500T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i3-8100T has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-8100T. Our comparison shows that the Core i3-8100T has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8500T. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-8500T has more L2 cache than the Core i3-8100T. The Core i5-8500T also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i3-8100T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
