Core i3-8100 vs Xeon X5680 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon X5680 is faster than the Core i3-8100. Despite this, the Core i3-8100 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon X5680 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i3-8100 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-8100. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-8100 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon X5680. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. A Core i3-8100 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5680 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i3-8100 has more L2 cache than the Xeon X5680. The Core i3-8100 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i3-8100 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
