Core i3-8100 vs Xeon X5670 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i3-8100 beats the Xeon X5670 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon X5670 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon X5670 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i3-8100 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-8100. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-8100 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon X5670. Also, the Core i3-8100 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i3-8100 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5670 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Xeon X5670 has more L2 cache than the Core i3-8100. The Xeon X5670 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i3-8100 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
