Core i3-8100 vs Xeon W-2123 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon W-2123 performs better than the Core i3-8100. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-8100 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Xeon W-2123 has more threads. Both the Core i3-8100 and Xeon W-2123 have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Xeon W-2123 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i3-8100 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon W-2123 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones.
