Core i3-8100 vs Xeon E3-1240 V2 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E3-1240 V2 beats the Core i3-8100 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i3-8100 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Xeon E3-1240 V2 has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i3-8100 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E3-1240 V2. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Xeon E3-1240 V2 also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i3-8100 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
