Core i3-8100 vs Xeon E3-1226 v3 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i3-8100 is faster than the Xeon E3-1226 v3. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E3-1226 v3 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i3-8100 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E3-1226 v3. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1226 v3 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i3-8100 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E3-1226 v3 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i3-8100 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
