Core i3-7350K vs FX-6300 specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the FX-6300 performs better than the Core i3-7350K. Despite this, the Core i3-7350K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the FX-6300 has significantly more cores with 3 cores compared to the Core i3-7350K that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-7350K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-7350K has a slightly higher clock speed than the FX-6300. In terms of cache, the FX-6300 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i3-7350K. The FX-6300 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i3-7350K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
