Core i3-6100T vs Core i5-5300U specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i3-6100T is faster than the Core i5-5300U. Despite this, the Core i5-5300U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i3-6100T has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-5300U. The Core i5-5300U outputs less heat than Core i3-6100T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i3-6100T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
