Core i3-12100F vs Xeon E5-2699 v3 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2699 v3 performs better than the Core i3-12100F. Despite this, the Core i3-12100F has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2699 v3 has significantly more cores with 18 cores compared to the Core i3-12100F that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-12100F. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-12100F has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2699 v3. Also, the Core i3-12100F has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i3-12100F CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2699 v3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i3-12100F has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
