Core i3-1115G4 vs FX-8320E specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the FX-8320E beats the Core i3-1115G4 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i3-1115G4 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the FX-8320E has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Core i3-1115G4 that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-1115G4. Our comparison shows that the FX-8320E has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i3-1115G4. A Core i3-1115G4 CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8320E CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i3-1115G4 has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the FX-8320E. Despite this, the FX-8320E has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i3-1115G4.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i3-1115G4 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
