Core i3-10100 vs Athlon 3000G specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i3-10100 performs better than the Athlon 3000G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon 3000G in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i3-10100 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Athlon 3000G that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Athlon 3000G. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-10100 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Athlon 3000G. The Athlon 3000G outputs less heat than Core i3-10100 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Core i3-10100 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i3-10100 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
