Core i3-1005G1 vs Xeon X3440 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Xeon X3440 beats the Core i3-1005G1 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i3-1005G1 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon X3440 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Core i3-1005G1 that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-1005G1. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon X3440 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i3-1005G1. Despite this, the Core i3-1005G1 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i3-1005G1 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X3440 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Xeon X3440 has more L2 cache than the Core i3-1005G1. The Xeon X3440 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i3-1005G1 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
