Core 2 Quad Q9650 vs Core i7-4810MQ specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core 2 Quad Q9650 is faster than the Core i7-4810MQ. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-4810MQ in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core 2 Quad Q9650 has slightly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Core i7-4810MQ that has 3 cores. Despite this, the Core i7-4810MQ has more threads than the Core 2 Quad Q9650. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core 2 Quad Q9650 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-4810MQ. The Core i7-4810MQ outputs less heat than Core 2 Quad Q9650 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core 2 Quad Q9650 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-4810MQ
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core 2 Quad Q9650 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
