Core 2 Quad Q8200 vs Core 2 Duo E8400 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core 2 Duo E8400 is faster than the Core 2 Quad Q8200. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core 2 Quad Q8200 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core 2 Quad Q8200 has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Core 2 Duo E8400 has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core 2 Duo E8400. Our comparison shows that the Core 2 Duo E8400 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core 2 Quad Q8200. The Core 2 Duo E8400 outputs less heat than Core 2 Quad Q8200 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core 2 Duo E8400 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core 2 Quad Q8200
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core 2 Quad Q8200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
