Core 2 Quad Q8200 vs Core 2 Duo E7200 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core 2 Quad Q8200 performs better than the Core 2 Duo E7200. Despite this, the Core 2 Duo E7200 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core 2 Quad Q8200 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Core 2 Duo E7200 that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core 2 Duo E7200. With our hardware info, we find that the Core 2 Duo E7200 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core 2 Quad Q8200. The Core 2 Duo E7200 outputs less heat than Core 2 Quad Q8200 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core 2 Duo E7200 has more L2 cache than the Core 2 Quad Q8200

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core 2 Quad Q8200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
