Core 2 Duo E8400 vs FX-9800P specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core 2 Duo E8400 is faster than the FX-9800P. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-9800P in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the FX-9800P has significantly more cores than the Core 2 Duo E8400. Indeed, the FX-9800P has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Core 2 Duo E8400. It also has more threads than the Core 2 Duo E8400. With our hardware info, we find that the Core 2 Duo E8400 has a slightly higher clock speed than the FX-9800P. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core 2 Duo E8400 has significantly more L2 cache than the FX-9800P
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core 2 Duo E8400 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
