Core 2 Duo E8400 vs Athlon II X2 245 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core 2 Duo E8400 is faster than the Athlon II X2 245. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon II X2 245 in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core 2 Duo E8400 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Athlon II X2 245. In terms of cache, the Core 2 Duo E8400 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Athlon II X2 245

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core 2 Duo E8400 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
