Core 2 Duo E8200 vs Ryzen 7 9800X3D comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D beats the Core 2 Duo E8200 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core 2 Duo E8200 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has significantly more cores than the Core 2 Duo E8200. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has 8 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Core 2 Duo E8200. It also has more threads than the Core 2 Duo E8200. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core 2 Duo E8200. A Core 2 Duo E8200 CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has slightly more L2 cache than the Core 2 Duo E8200
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core 2 Duo E8200 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
