Celeron N4120 vs Core i5-5300U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Celeron N4120 beats the Core i5-5300U in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-5300U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Celeron N4120 has significantly more cores than the Core i5-5300U. Indeed, the Celeron N4120 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Core i5-5300U. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-5300U has a significantly higher clock speed than the Celeron N4120. A Celeron N4120 CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-5300U CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Celeron N4120 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
