Celeron J3455 vs Core i5-4200U benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-4200U performs better than the Celeron J3455. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Celeron J3455 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Celeron J3455 has significantly more cores than the Core i5-4200U. Indeed, the Celeron J3455 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Core i5-4200U. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-4200U has a slightly higher clock speed than the Celeron J3455. A Celeron J3455 CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-4200U CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Celeron J3455 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
