Celeron J3455 vs Core 2 Duo E8400 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Celeron J3455 is faster than the Core 2 Duo E8400. Despite this, the Core 2 Duo E8400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Celeron J3455 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Core 2 Duo E8400 that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core 2 Duo E8400. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core 2 Duo E8400 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Celeron J3455. A Celeron J3455 CPU outputs less heat than a Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Celeron J3455 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
