Celeron G3920 vs Core i7-5500U comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i7-5500U beats the Celeron G3920 in overall performance. Despite this, the Celeron G3920 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Core i7-5500U has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Celeron G3920 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-5500U. The Core i7-5500U outputs less heat than Celeron G3920 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches and L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Celeron G3920 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
