Athlon II X4 651 vs FX-870K benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the FX-870K is faster than the Athlon II X4 651. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon II X4 651 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Athlon II X4 651 has significantly more cores than the FX-870K. Indeed, the Athlon II X4 651 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the FX-870K. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-870K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Athlon II X4 651. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Athlon II X4 651 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
