Athlon II X4 640 vs Pentium 6805 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Pentium 6805 is faster than the Athlon II X4 640. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon II X4 640 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Athlon II X4 640 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Pentium 6805 that has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Athlon II X4 640 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Pentium 6805. In terms of cache, the Athlon II X4 640 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Pentium 6805
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Athlon II X4 640 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
