Athlon II X4 640 vs Core i3-N305 comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i3-N305 is faster than the Athlon II X4 640. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon II X4 640 in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i3-N305 has significantly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Athlon II X4 640 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Athlon II X4 640. Our comparison shows that the Athlon II X4 640 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i3-N305. In terms of cache, the Core i3-N305 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Athlon II X4 640

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Athlon II X4 640 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
