Athlon II X2 220 vs Celeron E3500 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Celeron E3500 performs better than the Athlon II X2 220. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon II X2 220 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Athlon II X2 220 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Celeron E3500. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Athlon II X2 220 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
