A9-9420 vs Core 2 Duo E8200 benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core 2 Duo E8200 performs better than the A9-9420. Despite this, the A9-9420 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the A9-9420 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core 2 Duo E8200. The info from our database shows that the Core 2 Duo E8200 has more L2 cache than the A9-9420

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the A9-9420 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
