A8-9600 vs Core i5-5257U benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the A8-9600 beats the Core i5-5257U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-5257U in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the A8-9600 has significantly more cores than the Core i5-5257U. Indeed, the A8-9600 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Core i5-5257U. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the A8-9600 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-5257U. Also, the A8-9600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-5257U outputs less heat than A8-9600 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the A8-9600 has more L2 cache than the Core i5-5257U

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the A8-9600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
