A8-9600 vs Athlon X4 870K comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the A8-9600 is faster than the Athlon X4 870K. Despite this, the Athlon X4 870K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the A8-9600 has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Athlon X4 870K has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Athlon X4 870K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the A8-9600. Also, the Athlon X4 870K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A A8-9600 CPU outputs less heat than a Athlon X4 870K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Athlon X4 870K has more L2 cache than the A8-9600

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the A8-9600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
