A8-9600 vs Athlon X4 860K benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Athlon X4 860K beats the A8-9600 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the A8-9600 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the A8-9600 has significantly more cores than the Athlon X4 860K. Indeed, the A8-9600 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Athlon X4 860K. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Athlon X4 860K has a slightly higher clock speed than the A8-9600. A A8-9600 CPU outputs less heat than a Athlon X4 860K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Athlon X4 860K has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the A8-9600
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the A8-9600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
