A8-7650K vs Athlon X4 870K benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Athlon X4 870K performs better than the A8-7650K. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the A8-7650K in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Athlon X4 870K has a slightly higher clock speed than the A8-7650K. Also, the Athlon X4 870K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A A8-7650K CPU outputs less heat than a Athlon X4 870K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the A8-7650K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
