A8-6500 vs Core i7-3635QM comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-3635QM is faster than the A8-6500. Despite this, the A8-6500 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-3635QM has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the A8-6500 has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the A8-6500. With our hardware info, we find that the A8-6500 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-3635QM. Also, the A8-6500 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-3635QM outputs less heat than A8-6500 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the A8-6500 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
