A8-5550M vs Core i3-3110M comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i3-3110M is faster than the A8-5550M. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the A8-5550M in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the A8-5550M has significantly more cores than the Core i3-3110M. Indeed, the A8-5550M has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Core i3-3110M. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i3-3110M has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the A8-5550M. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the A8-5550M has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
