Core i5-7600K vs Xeon D-1540 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon D-1540 performs better than the Core i5-7600K. Despite this, the Core i5-7600K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Xeon D-1540 has significantly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i5-7600K has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-7600K. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-7600K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon D-1540. Also, the Core i5-7600K has a significantly higher turbo speed. The Xeon D-1540 outputs less heat than Core i5-7600K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon D-1540 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-7600K. Despite this, the Core i5-7600K has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Xeon D-1540.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-7600K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
